MEC JOURNEY OF GRACE
美佳之窗His Window 89( Jan–Mar 2020 )
Text by Ps. Matthew Samuel Cho Qwang-Ming
When the discussion for MEC to move to a newer and bigger location came up late in 2018, everyone in the committee was onboard. However, we never realized that a space would pop up so quickly, and to make things even better, in such close proximity to Mega CMC.
When Standard Chartered released its third floor to be leased out, the LCEC of Mega CMC worked hard to secure the place as MEC’s new worship space. Everything moved at light speed and within 3 months of negotiation and proposal, agreements had been signed and we secured rental of the space. Renovations began, and by November 2019 everything was complete.
It may seem like the entire process of acquiring a new worship space was quick, easy, and efficient. However, I would truly say, this new project, undertaken by MEC since late 2018 has been a journey of grace. For MEC to have grown from its humble beginnings in 2014 to the congregation it is now (averaging 130 worshippers weekly), we certainly give God all the glory. From sharing worship spaces with Mega CMC (which was never a problem), to having a worship space of our own that can seat 220 persons, we give God all the glory. It was God who made a way, brought us together as a committee and congregation, birthed in us a vision and passion to expand His kingdom, granted us the wisdom, and empowered us for His purpose.
We look back to six years ago and our hearts are filled with gratitude. Now, the question for us is: what’s next? With this new space, we are certainly excited for what the future holds. I would not say we are in the Promised Land, because we were never in “Egypt” in the first place.
But, I would say that we have progressed to a new level of serving the community in Kota Damansara. As a congregation of worshippers, both Mega CMC and MEC, our prayer is that God will continue to lead us forwards, not for our own glory, but for HIS glory!
